MANTEO, N.C. (WAVY) — Off-season speed limit signs will be reinstalled Monday along parts of NC 12 in the Outer Banks.

Seasonal speed limits of 35 mph will return to 45 mph in areas through the tri-villages of Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo, along with Corolla and Frisco. Several areas of Cape Hatteras National Seashore will also resume off-season speed limits.

There are still many drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians on the Outer Banks in the fall, and drivers are advised to drive with caution even as the speed limit changes.

Seasonal speed limits will return May 15, 2025.
