UPDATE Nov. 15, 2019: The suspect, Rojawn Warren, has turned himself in to the Smithfield Police Department.
He will be held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond, according to Smithfield Police Deputy Chief Matthew Rogers.
SMITHFIELD, Va. (WAVY) — Smithfield Police are looking for a suspect in a homicide that occurred at a 7-Eleven late Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Matthew Rogers says Smithfield Police are looking for 19-year-old Rojawn Orlander Warren in connection with the incident.
Police have three warrants for his arrest.
He is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm inside a building.
Warren is 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
According to police, officers responded to a 7-Eleven at 603 W. Main Street at 10:52 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired.
When they arrived on scene, they located a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene, then later identified as 21-year-old Desmond Smith, of Smithfield.
10 On Your Side spoke with one of Smith’s neighbors, who said he was surprised to hear about what happened.
“It kind of hurt because I’ve seen the young man and I’d see him go to school and back and work and back,” said Herbert T. Wells. “It’s really hurting.”
