NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was sentenced to 17 years in prison in Norfolk following a shooting that occurred in February 2021.
Gregory Mayo was convicted and sentenced for second-degree murder as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He received a 25 year sentence on the murder charge, but had 11 years suspended, and received a three year sentence for the use of a firearm. Upon release, Mayo is expected to have an additional 10 years on probation.
This all was a result of a shooting on Feb. 12, 2021. Norfolk police found 31-year-old Kevin Gumbs suffering from a gunshot wounds in the 7400 block of Fenner Street.
