Man escapes from Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities need help to find a 32-year-old man who escaped from Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg early Monday morning.

Christopher Feagin escaped the facility around 1:40 a.m. Monday, but news of his escape wasn’t shared until 2:40 p.m. by Virginia State Police.

Police say Feagin has numerous tattoos, including a skull with a woman’s face on his face. He also has multiple aliases, including Michael Lee Malone and Christopher Feagin.

Feagin has a long list of charges, most recently in Virginia Beach while in the city jail. There, Feagin was charged four times for possession of a deadly weapon by a prisoner, tampering with fire equipment and obscene sex acts. On one instance, Feagin taped an improvised weapon to his shin with a bandage.

He’s 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants with a gray shirt and gray sweater.

William & Mary in Williamsburg issued a campus alert about Feagin’s escape, which said, in part, “While Feagin is not likely in the area, should you see him, contact police immediately. Do not approach. He could be armed and is considered dangerous.”

Feagin has no last known address, but has ties to Lexington, South Carolina, police said. Court documents 10 On Your Side obtained reveal Feagin has an ex-wife and 14-year-old son in Lexington. We reached out to Feagin’s ex-wife. She did not respond.

A Virginia State Police spokesperson tells us no one was injured in Feagin’s escape. We asked if Feagin was under video surveillance or restrained and what time it was realized he was missing. We’re waiting for a response.

State Police did confirm search efforts continued through the night and continue Tuesday.
