Major renovations planned for Level Green Park in Virginia Beach through summer 2025

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Starting June 28th, 2024, Level Green Park will be closed for the construction of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation’s (VBPR) $4.2 million dollar renovation project.

The improvements are based on public input from an online survey posted to the VBPR website and two public hearings held in 2019. Additions to the park include splash pads, a dog park, and a fitness station. Picnic areas will be renovated to accommodate family gatherings and celebrations. The walking trails in place will be resurfaced, and new concrete walkways will be constructed. Two new basketball courts will be relocated in the park. The parking lot will be expanded from 32 spaces to 86 spaces. New public restroom facilities will be constructed. A wildflower meadow and over 120 trees will be planted throughout the park.

“These enhancements to Level Green Park reflect our commitment to fostering a vibrant community space,” said VBPR Director Michael Kirschman. “We believe these new amenities will greatly benefit our residents and encourage more people to take advantage of all the wonderful activities our parks have to offer.”

The project is expected to last through summer 2025. The newly constructed playground will remain open during park construction.
