Senior center resident in James City County attacked with laptop

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating and a staff member has been fired after an apparent case of elder abuse at English Meadows Williamsburg senior living center.

A source sent WAVY photos of a man with bloody gashes on his nose and side of his face near his right eye. In a video recorded by two staff members, the man said the caregiver struck him Thursday with a laptop after he asked her questions about lunch.

English Meadows has 10 campuses across the Commonwealth, and CEO Dina Semones said the caregiver involved was fired Friday.

The company has notified and is cooperating with all relevant agencies, and has a zero tolerance policy regarding abuse of its residents.

No charges have been filed but James City County Police have assigned a detective to the case.
