JCC crash leaves woman dead, three injured

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — James City County Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a woman dead and three people injured.

Around 8:21 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Old Stage Road and Fieldstone Parkway. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a heavily damaged black Honda Odyssey and a white Ford F-250 pickup truck in the intersection median.


According to police, the Honda Odyssey was traveling south on Fieldstone Parkway and attempting to turn left onto eastbound Old Stage Road when it was struck by the Ford F-250, that was traveling westbound on Old Stage Road.

Police said the driver of the Honda Odyssey, Melissa Delano, 44, of Suffolk, was found unresponsive. Crews performed CPR and other life-saving measures on Delano, but despite their best efforts she died on the scene.

A passenger in the Honda Odyssey was transported to VCU Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford F-250 was treated and released at the scene, while a passenger in the truck was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Police do not believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
