ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY)– Multiple agencies responded to a fire in Smithfield Monday night.

According to officials, fire crews were dispatched to the 1500 block of Magruder Road in the town of Smithfield in Isle of Wight County at 11:55 p.m. The first crew arrived 3 minutes after being dispatched and found fire blowing from several windows on the rear of a two story house.

The house was unoccupied.

After entering the home, firefighters were evacuated due to extensive damage to the structure. Shortly after evacuating, the roof of the home collapsed.

The fire was brought under control after 1 and 1/2 hours.

No injuries were reported.

The remainder of the house is being demolished.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department,  Isle of Wight Fire Rescue, Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department and Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad all assisted with the fire.
