ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — One driver was seriously hurt after two tractor-trailers crashed Thursday night on Route 460.
It happened just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Route 639, a mile west of Windsor, authorities say.
Virginia State Police say it happened after a Volvo tractor-trailer broke down in the right lane of eastbound 460. Police say the driver was still in his cab looking for emergency triangles when a second tractor-trailer, a 2016 International carrying water bottles, struck the truck from behind.
The driver of the International was taken to Sentara Norfolk General with non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police say neither speed, alcohol or drugs were appear to be factors.
Route 460 was shut down while the sheriff’s office, fire and rescue units worked the crash.
