Isle of Wight Fire Rescue respond to accidental electrical house fire

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — An accidental electrical issue caused a house fire on Friday morning in Isle of Wight County.

At approximately 10 a.m., fire crews from Isle of Wight Fire Rescue, Rushmere Volunteer Fire Department, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department and Carrolton Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Burwells Bay Road in the Rushmere area of the county.

Upon arrival to the scene, crews saw fire blowing from a first-floor window that was approaching the second floor.

Before entering the residence to search for possible victims and extinguish the fire, crews knocked down flames from outside the building first.

The fire was contained by 10:30 a.m., and no injuries were reported.

No elaboration was provided on the cause of the fire.
