NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — All lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 have reopened at Chesapeake Boulevard after being shutdown for more than an hour Friday morning due to a shooting investigation.
Virginia State Police say two male victims were traveling in a black Lexus on eastbound I-64 in the area of Norview Avenue around 2:20 a.m. when the driver of a white SUV/truck fired on their vehicle.
After being struck by bullets, both males went to Sentara Leigh Hospital in the Newtown area. One of the victims was treated and released, and the other is still at the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the incident, WAVY News’ overnight photographer saw a black Lexus with broken back glass at the hospital.
No other details in the case have been released but State Police say the investigation is ongoing. They’re looking to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting.

The roadway reopened around 7:20 a.m. after first being affected by closures before 6 a.m.
A viewer told WAVY’s Kiahnna Patterson she saw four to five troopers on the side of the interstate searching the area with flashlights.
There’s no word yet on if the shooting was targeted or random.
