Police: Henrico homicide suspect found dead after barricade situation at Hampton hotel room

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police said a suspect wanted in a homicide in Henrico was found dead in a hotel room in Hampton after a barricade situation Wednesday.

Police issued an alert on Twitter at 11:40 a.m. about the barricade situation at the Red Roof Inn at 1925 Coliseum Drive.


Police said officers coordinating with Henrico County investigators and the United States Marshals Service Taskforce responded to the hotel around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a wanted subject.

They arrived and the call was upgraded once information was received that the man was barricaded and armed with a weapon.

SWAT units and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene as well and tried to take the man safely into custody.

However, when SWAT officers made their way into the hotel room, they found the man dead.

The man has been identified as Christopher Leon White Jr., 25, of Richmond.

Police said he was wanted in connection with a homicide in Henrico County that happened Sunday, June 6.

According to a Henrico police news release, White was wanted on charges of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and second-degree murder.

The homicide happened on Demaree Court. officers found 26-year-old Chardonnay Nicole Gunn dead inside a residence after receiving a call for a welfare check around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Hampton police said they’re conducting a death investigation in connection with the incident at the hotel.

Henrico police said Wednesday night another person was arrested in connection with the homicide.

23-year-old Bronte Adams was arrested in Hampton and charged with accessory after the fact in a homicide, Henrico police said. She was taken to a jail in the Hampton area.

Henrico police said Virginia Beach police, Hampton police, Norfolk police, Virginia State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the investigation.
