HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Two men are injured following a shooting Tuesday night in Hampton

According to police, officers were called in reference to a shooting just after 9 p.m. in the 900 block of Aberdeen Rd.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. Police say there was another man inside the vehicle who had non life-threatening injuries from broken glass.

The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital with a life-threatening injury, according to police.

According to police, a preliminary investigation showed that the victims were leaving a gathering in the 700 block of Birch Avenue when someone fired a gun. The man was struck as well as an empty vehicle and a home. 

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. At this time, police say the motive for this shooting is unknown.
