HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – During its legislative session Wednesday night, Hampton City Council unanimously voted to allow Rosie’s Gaming Emporium to operate 24 hours per day.
Rosie’s is located in the Power Plant shopping center. It’s currently open daily from 8 a.m. until 4 a.m. Rosie’s, which is owned by the Colonial Downs Group, applied to be able to operate 24/7 to remain competitive with other betting facilities, like the Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, which is open all day and night. Three years ago, WAVY reported when Rosie’s hours were extended from a 2 a.m. closing time to 4 a.m. at the Hampton location. According to city officials, since making that change, police have not reported any concerns.
Rosie’s has several locations. Hours vary, but currently none are open 24/7.
The 24-hour operation at Rosie’s in Hampton will be phased-in over the next few weeks, as soon as staffing plans are finalized, according to the company.
“At Rosie’s we would like to be more than just great neighbors. We strive to be great community partners. Our 150 employees live and work here. Our guests live and work here. We donate $100,000 per year here in Hampton and throughout Hampton Roads supporting the community where we live, work and volunteer. Our entertainment and gaming emporium generates more than $2.5 million dollars per year in annual tax revenue for the City of Hampton. We are grateful to be the first Rosie’s Gaming Emporium in the state of Virginia authorized to operate 24-hours and look forward to delivering around-the-clock fun, entertainment and of course unbeatable jackpots!”
