Man’s death at home on Lake Tower Drive ruled a homicide

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A death investigation in Hampton has been upgraded to a homicide case, police announced Wednesday.

Police say they responded to the 400 block of Lake Tower Drive just before 10 a.m. Tuesday regarding a person found dead inside a home.


Members of Hampton Police and Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue responded to the call. When they got to the scene, officials found a man dead inside the home. Officials also found “evidence of a fire” inside.

Police on Wednesday identified the man as 23-year-old Joshua Emmanuel Owusu-Koramoah.

A cause of death has not been released. There is also no suspect information at this time.

According to a person who knows the family, Owusu-Koramoah’s family is from Ghana. His brother is Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

On Friday, the Browns released the following statement on Twitter:

“We offer our deepest condolences to Jeremiah and his family on the heartbreaking loss of his brother Joshua. Our thoughts are with the Owusu-Koramoah family in this most difficult time.”

Members of the William & Mary community posted on social media that Owusu-Koramoah was a 2020 grad. BCM, a Christian community at William & Mary posted:

“With great sadness we announce the passing of Joshua Owusu-Koramoah, ‘20, on April 5. Please be praying for his family in this difficult time.”

The person who knows the family said both Owusu-Koramoah brothers went to Bethel High School in Hampton.

Friends say “he was the most beautiful person in the world.”
