HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Police Division is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect in connection with a maiming on Wednesday.

At around 3:40 p.m., Hampton Public Safety Communications responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of LaSalle Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue arrived and deemed the victim’s injuries as not life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was walking on LaSalle Avenue when a vehicle approached and fired in his direction, subsequently striking him. The motive and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
