Police release name of man killed in Shelton Road shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Hampton responded to a homicide in the first block of Shelton Road Saturday night.

According to police, dispatch received a call regarding the incident at 10:19 p.m.


When police arrived on the scene, they discovered 31-year-old Rakalee Sterling suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was inside a home when he was shot. However, they do not currently know the motive and circumstance behind the shooting.

There is no information on possible suspects.
