HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Seldendale Drive on Monday, police said.
Hampton Police got the call for a shooting in the 2000 block of Seldendale Drive, near the Happy Shopper convenience store, around 6:21 p.m. When officers got to the area, they found a man suffering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.
The man was taken to a local hospital, police said.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the man and the suspect were arguing, and after they exchanged words, the suspect shot at the man, and the man was struck by a bullet.
The suspect, 27-year-old Gary Boyd Jr. from Hampton, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, discharging a firearm within city limits and reckless handling of a firearm.
Police said the shooting took place in the no-hundred block of West Mercury Boulevard.
Hampton Police’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.
