HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The mother of a Newport News woman who was abducted from her job in Hampton and later found in Norfolk on Wednesday spoke to 10 On Your Side.

The suspect is still on the run.

Hampton police say 25-year-old Tyrone Harris and 26-year-old Dominique Alesi were involved in a domestic situation in the 400 block of Butler Farm Road.

Alesi’s mother, Christine Pool, said her daughter is banged up and bruised, but overall she is expected to make a full recovery.

It was an emotional evening at DePaul Medical Center when Pool reunited with Alesi.

“She’s my best friend, so seeing her alive was the most happiest thing for me,” Pool said. “She told me she thought she was never going to see me again.”

Alesi’s ordeal with Harris began as she was coming back from lunch with a coworker.

Pool said Harris is her daughter’s ex-boyfriend.

Hampton police tell 10 On Your Side Alesi and Harris got into an argument in the parking lot and a struggle broke out. Meanwhile, Harris’ car hit a tree and caught fire.

“When he seen the car was catching on fire, he threw Dominique into her friend’s car and stole her friend’s car and left,” Pool said.

Police later found the stolen car in Norfolk, but there was no sign of Harris or Alesi.

After several agonizing hours, Pool got word from police that her daughter was found safe at a hospital.

“He seen the news earlier so he knew he was already wanted. He was paranoid, so she asked him to drop her off and he did,” Pool said.

Pool said her daughter had recently been trying to distance herself from Harris.

“She told him weeks ago she didn’t want to be with him no more, but he would pop up at our house or come to her job or he called her after she changed her phone number,” Pool said.

She has this message for others in troubled relationships.

“Leave. As soon as the first hit or the mental abuse starts, you need to leave because they don’t stop – and it could be this situation or worse,” Pool said.

Police are still looking for Tyrone Harris, so if you know where he is, call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
