Hampton man sentenced to seven years and six months for drug trafficking

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A 35-year-old Hampton man was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime on Tuesday.

According to court documents, federal agents conducted a series of controlled narcotics purchases from Timothy Joseph Sullivan in Georgia and his residence in Hampton in August 2023. Investigators additionally surveilled his residence.


On Feb. 3, agents searched Sullivan’s residence and recovered three handguns, a micro-conversion kit, three bags of cocaine totaling 472.21 grams, 700 grams of marijuana, ammunition, a 60-round capacity magazine, three digital scales, various pills, and packing material.

Jessica D. Aber, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Derek W. Gordon, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Washington, D.C., made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth W. Hanes.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon Heath prosecuted the case.
