Hampton fire crews weren’t horsing around during rescue after equine was stuck in mud

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A horse is recovering after Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue found her stuck in the mud on Thursday night, officials said.

Around 5:40 p.m., the fire crews were notified of a horse stuck in a creek in the mud for an unknown period of time. The Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue reached out to Suffolk Fire-Rescue for assistance, due to their experience with equine rescue.

With the assistance of Tidewater Express Inc. and a vet on scene, Tango was safely removed from the creek around 9:20 p.m., and received the proper treatment to help her recover.

As of early Friday morning, Tango was able to stand on her own and recovering.
