47-year-old man dies following motorcycle crash in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — Local authorities have confirmed a fatality after they responded to a two-vehicle accident, including a motorcycle, in Gloucester County.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on US-17 south of the intersection of TC Walker Rd.

According to Virginia State Police, one of the motorists involved was driving north on Route 17 in a 2019 Toyota Corolla when she attempted to make a left into the former Page Middle School parking lot.

State Police say the driver turned in the path of Dwayne Anthony Grigoleit who was traveling southbound on his 2008 Suzuki motorcycle.

Grigoleit attempted to avoid the Corolla and was thrown from his motorcycle striking the vehicle.

State Police say Grigoleit succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other driver suffered non-life-threatening inquires.

The investigation is still ongoing, however, police have determined that alcohol nor speed contributed to the accident. Officials say charges are still pending
