GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) – If you are looking to adopt a dog, the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society (GMHS) is running a special promotion that might interest you.

From Tuesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 23, they are offering a “Name Your Own Adoption Fee” promotion. Normally it costs around $175 to adopt a dog from them, but during this period, they said you can pay what you can afford.

The goal is to find forever homes for the dogs currently in their care and to make room for dogs on the shelter’s waiting list.

“We continue to receive a high number of animals at our shelter. Our goal is always to get our pets into homes as quickly as possible,” said Executive Director Charles Brown.

All adopted dogs will be vaccinated, fixed and microchipped.

You must be approved before you can adopt.
