GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) – Several law enforcement deputies were assaulted during a Sunday night barricade in Gloucester, deputies said.
According to officials, just after 10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 9600 block of Davenport Road for reports of a domestic.
Once at the scene, deputies were able to find a victim with injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated and has since been released. Shortly afterwards, deputies were able to locate the suspect, 47-year-old Jammie Michael Lowney, who then barricaded inside of a residence, deputies said.
After a two-hour standoff, deputies were able to make entry, where several deputies were then assaulted by Lowney during a struggle. Eventually, Lowney was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Lowney was then arrested and charged with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice and assault and battery of a family member.
