GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — A driver died after colliding with a truck and overturning in the median on Route 17 in Gloucester County on Monday.
Virginia State Police say the two-vehicle crash happened around 11:38 p.m. on northbound Route 17 near Glenns Road.
Police say the driver of a Hyundai Elantra, 61-year-old Percy Lockley, was traveling northbound on Route 17, when a 2008 Ford F-450 carrying three people entered the roadway from a private driveway. Police said Lockley then struck the F-450.
The collision caused the Hyundai to veer into the median and overturn, killing the driver of the Hyundai. Police say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time and died after being ejected.
The three people in the Ford were not injured.
According to police, charges are pending against the driver of the F-450, 58-year-old Kevin Gramig.
