WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a larceny at a Williamsburg Walmart on Sept. 10, deputies said.
While placing groceries in her vehicle, the victim reported being approached by a man, asking for directions. Distracted by the interaction, a woman crept up behind the victim and stole her purse.
The suspects reportedly withdrew $1,000 from the victim’s debit card at a Wells Fargo ATM.
According to video surveillance obtained from the Walmart located at 731 E Rochambeau Dr., the man appeared to target the victim as she made her way to the self-checkout lane. He got directly behind the victim in line and saw her entering her PIN number for her debit card. He then proceeded to walk past the victim and wait as she left the store.
Now accompanied by the woman, the two followed the victim to her vehicle and separated in the parking lot. The male suspect is seen on video surveillance approaching the victim from the passenger side of her vehicle, while the female proceeds to steal her purse, deputies said.
The York -Poquoson Sheriff’s Office released an image of the two suspects. It shows the woman was wearing a pink shirt with grey/tan pants and the man was seen wearing a blue collared button up with navy blue shorts. He also can be seen with a dark beard. Both suspects wore hats.
