HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — North Armistead Avenue at Potter Lane in Hampton remains closed in both directions Thursday evening due to a power line down from an afternoon vehicle crash, Hampton Police said.

It asks people to take alternative routes.

Joint Base Langley-Eustis earlier in the afternoon had asked for people to use the King Street, LaSalle and NASA/Durand gates to come and go from the base to mitigate what it said was a “significant traffic backup” due to what it said was an off-base major vehicle crash and downed power line on Armistead Avenue.

Dominion Power’s outage map had reported an unspecified outage in the area of North Armistead Avenue, with 357 customers without power. It said a crew had been dispatched, and that the cause is pending investigation.

Its latest update as of 8 p.m. has just three customers without power.
