PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Court documents have revealed new information on the man accused of shooting at a police vehicle with an officer inside.

Anthony Vega, 39, has been charged with attempted murder after police said he started a shooting spree on Nov. 11 at 2 a.m. in downtown Portsmouth by firing at police video cameras.

Court documents revealed officers were able to recover a stolen assault rifle with two magazines tied together, as well as a shotgun. After running the serial number of the rifle, it was found to be stolen out of New York.

The documents also state Vega called an officer in a marked car “dirty” before shooting in his direction.

As a result of the shooting, the vehicle had a bullet hole above the windshield, just to the right of the driver, police said. Several buildings were also shot, according to police, including the United Methodist Church on Queen Street and two residential buildings.

No officers were hurt due to the shooting, police said.
