As expected, the southerly wind pushed the sound water up into parts of Elizabeth City.

Storms blew offshore after midnight and skies gradually cleared out overnight, but it remained windy with west winds gusting to 40 mph. While we anticipate the return of some sunshine Wednesday, it’ll remain cool and blustery, with winds gusting to 30-35mph for most of the day. This could cause some sound side flooding for the Outer Banks and part of the Eastern Shore.

Weather will continue to have an impact on some area schools . Virginia Beach City Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday.
