CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating after they say a man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Chesapeake Saturday.
According to police dispatch, the call for the crash came in just after 8 p.m. in the 2400 block of Gum Road.
Emergency crews responded to the crash and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Officials identified the man as 63-year-old Danny Harris of Chesapeake.
The investigation revealed Harris was struck in the middle of the roadway. Police say the vehicle stopped just down the roadway and the driver returned to the scene.
There are no further details at the moment.
