CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to close the North Landing Bridge on Monday, April 15 at 10 a.m. and it is expected to remain closed through April 26.

According to the City of Chesapeake, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which owns and operates the bridge, determined the bridge needs some repairs β€œto ensure consistent opening and closing of the bridge for maritime traffic.”

A detour will be in place. Signage will direct motorists to use Indian River Rd. to Elbow Rd. to Centerville Turnpike.

On two consecutive days last month, WAVY reported that the North Landing Bridge got stuck in the open position.
