Man dies in Chesapeake motorcycle crash

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A Portsmouth man has died following a motorcycle crash on an Interstate 64 onramp in Chesapeake Wednesday night, Virginia State Police said.

The driver of the 2008 Suzuki motorcycle, Joshua A. Brown, 28, was traveling at a high rate of speed going down the onramp to I-64 eastbound, coming from northbound Greenbriar Parkway, when he lost control of the motorcycle, dropping it to the ground and was thrown off, State Police said.

The motorcycle slid into the path of a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder heading eastbound on I-64, and Brown, suffering from life-threatening injuries, was taken to Portsmouth Naval Hospital, where he later died.

State Police said the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder, Shelby Ross Oliver, was charged with driving while their driver’s license was revoked, third offense, and driving without car insurance.

State Police said the investigation is still active, and the results of which will be provided to the Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney.
