CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Chesapeake City Council approved to add more student resource officers into schools.
On July 9, City Council approved more than $490,000 to go towards six new resource deputies, as well as a supervisor position.
In order to provide vehicles for the seven new positions, a financial agreement with Chesapeake Public Schools was made to reimburse the Sheriff’s Office. This is expected to be completed before Sept. 3.
