CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Tropical storm Helene is impacting a long term Chesapeake roadwork project. City officials say a shift in traffic on the Triple Decker Bridge that was scheduled for Friday had to be pushed back.
With heavy rain coming Friday, crews will now shift the bridge traffic on Monday instead.
Traffic on South Military Highway at the Triple Decker Bridge will shift from the westbound side of the bridge to the eastbound side. The bridge rehab work is being done so a weight restriction doesn’t have to be put in place for truck drivers.
The project is expected to be completed by summer of 2025.
More information about the project can be found here.
