CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police are looking for a suspect in a fatal shooting on Chesapeake Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Police are looking for 40-year-old Marcus Harley O’Leary on charges of armed burglary, abduction, first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (x3) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

O’Leary is considered armed and dangerous.

A Chesapeake police spokesperson said the shooting happened in the 1600 block of Chesapeake Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

A woman was found shot at the scene. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

She has been identified as 37-year-old Sammi Jo Burkhart.

Police are asking the public for help finding O’Leary.

O’Leary is described as a 40-year-old white male who is 6 feet 1 inches tall and 145 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Those who see O’Leary should notify police by calling 911.
