CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man is in custody after an alleged road rage incident turned deadly.

On Friday, around 5:40 a.m. officers responded to the intersection of South Military Highway and Canal Drive for a motor vehicle accident with a report of a person in the roadway.  

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man laying in the roadway. Police discovered the man had been shot and not hit by a vehicle.

The victim, 51-year-old Derrick Knight of Chesapeake, was shot and killed following an alleged “road rage” incident, police said. 

Leonard Parker, 55, of Chesapeake was arrested Friday afternoon and has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a Firearm in the commission of a felony.
