Chesapeake ranks No. 2 in the U.S. for most green space

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake ranked No. 2 in the U.S. for cities with the most green space.

A study conducted by The Green Brand went through the 136 biggest U.S cities to identify those with the best access to green spaces.

Chesapeake came in second, with 2,299 acres per 10,000 residents. The city has 158 parks totaling 58,966 acres of parkland and covering 27.3% of its territory.

Some most popular parks are Chesapeake City Park with its famous “Fun Forest” playground, Oak Grove Lake Park for fishing and boating, Northwest River Park for camping and horseback riding, Deep Creek Park for swimming and Great Bridge Lock Park for scenic views.
