CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A body was found floating in the river on Saturday in Chesapeake.
Chesapeake police say they responded just before 9:30 a.m. on Saturday to the 2900 block of Wheeling Avenue, off E. Indian River Road. That’s where the Elizabeth River meets Indian River.
The body, which had already begun to decompose, was taken to the medical examiner to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.
There are no other details available in the case at this time, but police say the incident remains under investigation.
