PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two hugely popular and very Southern menu items are returning to Chick-fil-A for a limited time starting this month — one for the first time in over a decade.
Starting on August 26, Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide will have the Banana Pudding Milkshake and the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, which first debuted last year. There’s also a spicy variant of the pimento sandwich available at participating restaurants.
Chick-fil-A says there have been countless calls for the banana pudding shake in the 13 years since it was last on the menu.
“It’s one of the number one requested and remembered seasonal shakes that we’ve had,” Chick-fil-A Senior Culinary Lead Christy Cook told Southern Living. “I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been at a family reunion or someone finds out I work for Chick-fil-A and they say, ‘When is that Banana Pudding Shake coming back?’”
The shake includes real bananas and vanilla wafer cookie crumbles, and is topped with whipped cream and a cherry.
Coffee lovers will also get a new Banana Frosted Coffee for a limited time.
“Every decision we make regarding our menu is extremely intentional,” said Allison Duncan, Director of Menu and Packaging at Chick-fil-A. “While our core products are what our Guests know and love us for, we also like to keep variety and innovation top of mind. Whether we are surprising our Guests with new flavors and offerings or taking classic items and bringing them back with a twist, each menu introduction is made after listening to their needs. We’re thrilled to be able to bring back two of our most popular picks this season!”
The seasonal items are typically around for about 10 weeks at a time. You can check the Chick-fil-A app or contact your local restaurant to see if they’ll have the spicy version of the pimento sandwich.
