CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — An attic fire damaged a home in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake Thursday evening, a fire official said.
There were no injuries reported.
The Chesapeake Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 1100 block of Kenelm Court at 8:44 p.m. after the resident of the home reported a fire in the attic, the fire official said.
Engine Company 9 reported smoke visible from the residence, and firefighters deployed multiple hoselines, entered the home and put out the fire. A person in the home was able to get out safely before firefighters arrived, the fire official said.
A woman has been displaced due to the fire, and the Red Cross will be offering help with lodging arrangements.
Fire investigators are working to determine a cause of the fire.
