VSP: 1 dead in single-vehicle Accomack County crash

ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — One person has died following a single-vehicle crash Monday evening into a house in the Painter area of Accomack County, Virginia State Police said. The driver has now been identified.

Around 6:29 p.m. state police responded to a single-vehicle crash at 33372 Lankford Highway in the Painter area.


A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2010 Buick Lucerne crashed into the corner section of a two-story brick house, with the driver found to be unresponsive, state police said. The driver was pronounced dead by medics, state police said.

The driver has been identified as 76-year-old Napoleon Coles, of Holly Ridge Drive, Melfa, Accomack County.

Virginia State Police said that it does not appear that alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
