2 arrested after Portsmouth homicide, 1 still sought

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two suspects have been arrested and one is still at-large after a homicide on Augustine Circle in Portsmouth last month.

Police announced on Tuesday that 24-year-old Brian Antwan Peoples and 24-year-old Jakobi Kyree Taylor are in the Portsmouth City Jail without bond, and are charged with first-degree murder and gun-related offenses.

26-year-old Lavelle Cobb Newton faces the same charges and is still wanted.

Police say the three suspects killed Arthur Lee Harris Jr. on Feb. 9 in the 3800 block of Augustine Circle. Harris was found with a gunshot wound at the scene and later died at the hospital.
