15-year-old from Hampton seriously hurt in shooting Thursday

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A 15-year-old from Hampton was struck Thursday afternoon in a drive-by shooting, police say.

Police say they got the call at 3:51 p.m. that the victim arrived at Sentara CarePlex Hospital on Coliseum Drive. His injuries were initially considered not to be life-threatening, but they were later upgraded to life-threatening, police say.


The victim was shot in the 1st of Green Street, north of downtown off Rip Rap Road, per police’s preliminary investigation. They say an unknown vehicle approached and whoever was inside started firing at the victim.

After the teen was struck, he was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle.
