VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating the case of a body found in the Lake Smith area of Virginia Beach as a suspicious death.
Police say the body of a man, identified as 19-year-old Jairo Armando Sanchez-Guardado, of Chesapeake, was found on shoreline in the Lake Smith/Lawson area around 10 a.m. on July 6 by two kayakers.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Habitat Lane, where they pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The case is being worked by the department’s homicide unit and the victim’s identity is being withheld for investigative purposes, according to police.
