YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A Yorktown man was arrested on Sunday in connection with a hoax call and several threats to Walmart employees.
According to officials, deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 200 block of Bay Tree Beach Road around 5:45 p.m. for reports of a person being held at gunpoint.
Before arriving to the scene, deputies were able to determine that the call was a hoax. Both the homeowner and alleged hostage confirmed no crime had taken place.
After an investigation, deputies identified the person who made the hoax call as 34-year-old Carmen Ray White II. Deputies were also able to link White II to several threatening phone calls and texts to employees of Walmart.
White II was then charged with falsely summoning or giving false reports to law enforcement, two counts of threats of death or bodily injury, three counts of threats to bomb or damage a building and profane or threatening language. He is currently being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
