JANUARY 2022 UPDATE: Cpl. Ernie Williams with Hampton Police confirms a suspect was charged by direct indictment with second degree murder and two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling in connection with this case. During a jury trial in January, the suspect was found not guilty on all charges.
Hampton Police said there were no other suspects arrested or charged in this homicide.

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A Hampton woman has died after being shot late Monday evening.
56-year-old Anne Ford, of Hampton, was killed Monday night after someone sprayed her home with bullets.
Emergency communications say they received a call for shots fired in the 100 block of Aspenwood Drive just before 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they located Ford who had been injured after shots were fired into the residence.
Ford was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.
There is no suspect information or other details at this time.
Residents on Aspenwood Drive are on edge as police are calling on the public for help in finding the person who fired the shots.
On Tuesday morning, crime scene tape was wrapped around a half dozen homes as police continued to look for evidence around Ford’s home. From several feet away, the spots where multiple rounds hit the home could be seen.
Neighbors say the house was occupied by Ford, her adult daughter, and the victim’s husband. A neighbor, who did not want her name or face to appear in this story, was in bed when the shots rang out.
“My baby was in the bed and I could hear multiple rounds of gunshots, so I called out to my husband to get up. It sounded like someone was shooting,” said the neighbor.
She says police told her ricocheting bullets from the volley of gunfire shattered the windshield and rear window of her car and caused body damage. Her vehicle was towed from the scene and is being processed as part of the investigation.
“It was shocking. It was disturbing because we don’t have things to happen like that since I’ve been living here — never,” said the neighbor.
Other neighbors who didn’t want to appear on camera or have their names used in coverage have been uneasy for the past few weeks. They claim an occupant of the victim’s home on Aspenwood Drive previously complained about a loud party that had gotten out of control on Father’s Day.
WAVY-TV 10 has filed a Freedom of information request with Hampton Police in efforts to verify reports from two neighbors who say police were called to the block following the Father’s Day dispute. Neighbors say the dispute was about parking and party-goers who were trespassing in the yards of several neighbors.
In the meantime, this mother is preparing for another sleepless night after her neighbor was killed and the person who did it is still at large.
“I just don’t know what is happening, if they were targeted, we don’t know,” said the neighbor.
Another neighbor tells WAVY-TV 10 a dark blue or black sedan was seen speeding from the crime scene.
