Man arrested in connection with deadly stabbing in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left a woman dead Thursday in Norfolk.

It happened in the 3700 block of Peterson Street, in the area of Robin Hood Road and Chesapeake Blvd.

Police got the call at 11:22 a.m.

Witnesses who didn’t want to be on camera told 10 On Your Side it was a gruesome scene. They saw a woman in the street Thursday morning covered in blood. There was also blood on the front doors of a nearby church. People in the neighborhood told us a man stabbed a woman to death and wiped her blood all over the house they rented and the church doors across the street.

The woman, 54-year-old Michelle Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives have charged 30-year-old Demetrios Bryant with second-degree murder as a result of their investigation.

Bryant is being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
