STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A woman from Triangle was taken into custody after she was accused of trying to commit fraud at a Target in Stafford County, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

On July 14 around 8:30 p.m., deputies went to the Target on S. Gateway Drive to investigate a woman trying to return items.

During their investigation, deputies learned that staff recognized 32-year-old Chloee Davis, of Triangle, from an incident at the store on July 2. However, she drove away in a BMW before they arrived.

While on I-95, deputies spotted the BMW and conducted a traffic stop. During this time, the SCSO said they recovered 13 Canon cameras valued at $8,449 and two VR Systems valued at $999 in the vehicle.

She was charged with attempted false pretenses, possession of stolen property, possession with intent to distribute stolen property, and driving suspended. Deputies said Davis was wanted in Virginia Beach for failure to appear.

The Sheriff’s Office also obtained warrants for the incident on July 2 and Davis was charged with shoplifting and false pretenses. She was being held on a $5,000 bond.

The SSCO said another woman, in the BMW, was wanted in Newport News for failure to appear. She was arrested and held on a $2,000 bond.
