Virginia man sentenced for felony drug crime in Fayette County

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WVNS) — A man from Patrick County, Virginia was sentenced for a felony offense in Fayette County.

38-year-old Tommy J. Strothers, of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, was sentenced to ten years in prison for the felony offense of conspiracy. He will need to serve two years and six months in prison before he is eligible for parole.

Once Strothers has served his sentence in West Virginia, he will be sent back to Virginia due to pending weapons and felony drug charges in the state.

A member of the Fayetteville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on July 21, 2022 on a car on U.S. Route 19. The car was reportedly going 64 mph in a 50 mph area. The officer noticed drug paraphernalia in the car’s console, and after searching the car, the officer found multiple sets of digital scales, suspected controlled substances, and packaging materials.

Tests revealed that the driver Joshua A. Moore, and passengers Tommy J. Strothers and Jessica L. Roop had more than 35 grams of methamphetamine and around half a gram of fentanyl in their possession.

The case was investigated by the Fayetteville Police Department.
