KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) – A traffic stop on Saturday led to the arrest of an 18-year-old, deputies said.
According to officials, around 9 p.m., deputies with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department, conducted a routine traffic stop on US 158 at West Eden in Kill Devil Hills.
After a probable cause was determined to search the vehicle, deputies were able to seize psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, THC wax and gummies.
As a result of the stop, 18-year-old John Robert Cooper was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I drug and possession of marijuana. Cooper was also cited for multiple traffic violations.
Cooper is currently being held under a $5,000 secured bond.
